Fall is the perfect time for family photos, but it can be hard to find a location that’s both beautiful and inspiring. Here are some of my favorite places to take fall family photo sessions as a Portland Family Phoographer:
Columbia River Gorge
The Columbia River Gorge is one of the most picturesque areas in Portland and a great place for epic landscape shots. It’s also home to many waterfalls and stunning views of the Columbia River. The area is especially popular during the fall because of its vibrant colors and beautiful leaves. Your Portland family photographer can take advantage of beautiful nature scenes as the backdrop to create stunning images of your loved ones!
Forest Park
Forest Park is one of Portland’s largest green spaces, so it makes sense that it’s also home to many great photo opportunities! There are plenty of paths through the park where you can walk and take in all the views around you, savoring the beauty of the majestic trees and enchanting wild flowers.
Cooper Mountain Nature Park
Cooper Mountain Nature Park is a great place for Portland fall family photos because of its abundance of fall colors and open spaces. It’s has golden tall grass fields that you can’t find anywhere nearby. It locates beaverton, Oregon, the suburb area of Portland metro, that easy access for families who live the south west side of the Portland, and surrounding area. It’s a great alternative option for families don’t want to drive to Gorge.
Downtown Portland
Portland is such a charming city. It alone offers many cool and interesting urban locations that are unique and full of characters. There are Pearl District, South Park, Portland State University campus, Waterfront, Hawthorns, just name a few. Downtown sessions are always so much fun — to explore the familiar area, stop by a beloved coffee shop, just simply get lost in the city, so much fun and inspiring to create.
Oregon Coast
Maybe it’s too obvious. Oregon Coast provides an all year spots for epic family photo sessions. Not just breathtaking sceneries, but also you will have a memorable adventure time with your family while taking family photos. Isn’t the best thing!
Downtown Beaverton
This location, nestled in the heart of Beaverton, is a great option for your Portland family photographer – especially if you’re looking to capture the essence of fall without venturing too far from home. The park has plenty of trees and foliage for you to use as your backdrop, as well as plenty of places for kids to run around and play. The best part? There are also plenty of restaurants and shops nearby where you can grab lunch before heading home.
A parking garage
If an unconventional photo experience is your thing, a parking garage roof top is a cool spot to do the photo shoot. Kids can bring skate board, buildings creates fun lines and patterns as the backdrop, and no one else will have such rad family photos like you do!
Clark and Lewis College
This campus is just a short walk from downtown Portland, so it’s easy to get to from anywhere in the city. There’s plenty of parking available, and you’ll find many great spots for having your Portland fall family photos at this location. I love the tall trees and old architecture on campus – it feels like something out of a storybook! This place is beautiful, but there are also plenty of nearby spots to take photos outside the gates as well.
Cathedral Park
One of the iconic architecture in Portland. Majestic bridge over the Willamette River, soft sand beach with ducks and geese strolling by, lights from the distant boats and buildings at farther side, hills at the far ground…many layers of sceneries are magical when comes to have a photo session within.
Your Home
It may seem obvious, but taking pictures at home is one of the best ways to get some amazing fall family photos. Your Portland family photographer can capture all of the fall decorations you’ve put out and your favorite seasonal items. It’s also a great way to document your family’s traditions and memories together.
With these fantastic location ideas, you’ll have the best Portland fall family photos ever!
