The autumnal season is a perfect time to visit Portland, Oregon. There’s something about the crisp air, colorful leaves, and cozy sweaters that just make you want to get out and explore. What better way to do that than with your family? Here are some of my favorite family-friendly fall activities to enjoy in Portland:
Pumpkin Patches
This city and its area have a few great pumpkin patches to check out. You’ll find them at Portland and Clark County farms, including the popular Bella Organic. Here you can enjoy a variety of fall activities in Portland – pick out your pumpkins from a variety of sizes, play games in the kids’ area, or simply enjoy a leisurely afternoon out in nature.
Apple Picking
If you’re looking for something to do with your family this fall, why not take a trip to the apple orchard? There are lots of places you can go in Portland, like Jossy Farms, which offers a great variety including Gravensteins and sweet Earligolds. They also have hazelnuts and walnuts in their shop while you’re there, so be sure to pick some up!
Hiking Trails with Fall Leaves
As fall progresses into winter in Portland it gets colder, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth getting outside! Many hiking trails around Portland are just as beautiful in the fall as in the summer. There’s no better way to experience the changing colors of nature than by heading out on a hike with your family! If you’re looking for some inspiration, I recommend heading over to Forest Park or Tryon Creek State Natural Area.
The Zoo
You don’t have to be from Portland to know that the city’s zoo is one of its most amazing attractions. It’s a great way to get outside and explore nature, but it’s also a fantastic way to spend an afternoon with your family. There are plenty of special events throughout the season if you want to get even more out of your visit.
The Playgrounds
There are tons of playgrounds throughout town. Whether you’re looking for a place to let the kids burn off some energy or just want to get outside and enjoy yourself, you’ll find plenty of options. One of our favorites is Peninsula Park’s playground, which features plenty of room and equipment for all ages.
Portland Farmer’s Market
The Portland Farmer’s Market is a great place to take your kids this fall. Not only will you enjoy seeing all of the different vendors with your fresh fruits and vegetables, but you can also meet local farmers who will be happy to tell you about their products. In addition to the fresh produce, there are also vendors selling homemade treats, baked goods, and other local food products.
Have Your Fall Family Photos Done in Portland
Fall is one of the best times to visit Portland, and it’s also a great season for a Portland Fall family photo session. So, whether you’re visiting Portland or a local resident, plan some time to take advantage of all that this beautiful city has to offer.
If you’re looking for a Portland family photographer, I’d love to hear from you!
