Why Choose an in-home Newborn Photo Session?

If you Google “portland newborn photographer,” you’ll be flooded with options: do you want the photos shot in a studio or at your home? Do you like a more easygoing, natural approach or images with elaborate props and rehearsed poses? It all comes down to personal preference, and it is critical to select the photographer who is best for you.

There are numerous advantages to scheduling photography at your house, not the least of which is that you don’t have to leave your cozy nest.

It’s far easier for a photographer to arrive at your door: they have all the equipment they need, and you have everything you need within arm’s reach. Everyone can unwind while your new arrival directs the pace of your shoot, content in familiar surroundings, and readily able to nap and feed when the mood strikes.

These sessions should never be done on a rigorous timetable because infants are a law unto themselves, as they should be. Working totally around your newborn and possibly a four-hour feed is vital and respectful.

Being at home relieves time constraints: you can eat a sandwich for lunch if things get out of hand, and no one is concerned about the parking ticket or returning in time for grandma’s visit. Of course, if Grandma comes to visit during the shoot, they can be featured as well. The more the merrier.

How to Prepare for an in-home Newborn Photo Session?

While your home does not need to appear like a hotel, there are a few things you can do to prepare for newborn photography at home. It can be beneficial to tidy surfaces in the primary rooms you’re likely to photograph, such as your bedroom (bedside tables always appear better devoid of water bottles and paperbacks) and possibly your living room.

Because newborn images are frequently shot on your bed, having a clean duvet cover, preferably in a neutral color, is essential. If you don’t like creases, run an iron over them ahead of time. If a few wrinkles don’t bother you, don’t bother.

You might want to have some various blankets or throws on hand to switch up the backgrounds that our newborn is lying on; dark and light backgrounds give pictures quite different feelings. Lovely fleecy blankets look lovely, and the larger the better. Have precious artifacts or blankets crocheted by a devoted parent or grandparent on hand as well?

The most important thing to remember is that in-home newborn photo sessions are for your family. It’ll be full of memories you may share with your child as he or she gets older. So just concentrate on the important things: you, your newborn, your family, and your love for one another.

Allow your photographer to think about light and angles, about composition and originality. All you have to do is relax and enjoy the moment. You may spend the day with your family, comfortable and happy in your own home, with no schedule constraints or stress.
